MCB Alumínios, a company founded by Manuel Correia Bettencourt, is the continuation of his family’s history in this industry, which began in 1857 with his grandfather Manuel Corrêa Bettencourt and later his father Manuel Soares Correia, both of whom worked in the manufacture of wrought iron and artistic metalwork, in a workshop in Largo Mártires da Pátria in Ponta Delgada.
Following in the footsteps of his ancestors, Manuel Correia Bettencourt set up MCB Alumínios in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, as there were no companies in the sector in the city. So, in 1985, he set up shop in a small bank branch, where he remained for almost a decade.
Despite the small space, he was always a visionary, and never stopped modernizing and equipping himself with the best machinery for cutting and assembling aluminium frames, with the prospect of the company growing with the projection of a new space.
In 1994, it stood out in its field with the opening of a new space, the first warehouse in the Ribeira Grande Industrial Park. Over the next 30 years, it continued to grow until it reached 3500 square meters, where it currently houses all its services, standing out for having a complete response, from the cutting section, to the manufacture of double glazing, treatment and lacquering of aluminium profiles.
In February 2016, after the death of Manuel Correia Bettencourt, his legacy was passed on to his son Mark Correia Bettencourt, also with the initials MCB, continuing his family’s history in this sector of activity and ensuring the future of MCB Alumínios.
